Dear Friends,
Do you have a friend or relative who is a resident of a retirement or convalescent home? If so, perhaps you've heard of the terrible abuses occurring daily in some of these facilities. Most of us don't want to think about it, or we think "it's not happening to my loved one." Are you sure? I hope not, but the fact is that over two million elderly and disabled are abused every year.
My name is Susan Zador. I am the founder and director of the "Elderly Abuse Prevention Program." Being a registered nurse for seventeen years, I have seen this abuse with my own eyes. I have written a book titled Our Caregivers, describing these atrocities and now, through the Elderly Abuse Prevention Program, we hope to stop abuse in retirement and convalescent homes beginning right here in our community.
Our elderly and disabled are our history. When we were children, helpless to care for ourselves, they selflessly raised and cared for us. Shouldn't we now return their love" when they are challenged in caring for themselves? Don't you agree they deserve our gratitude and support by caring for them with respect and love? We believe our elderly and disabled deserve to be treated with the same respect and love as they showed us.
The Elderly Abuse Prevention Program is a "watchful eye" nursing team working among other caregivers, observing and reporting those caregivers that are not fit to care for our loved ones. We working cooperation with the care giving facility and with the approval of various governing agencies.
I'm sure you realize as we do the magnitude of this undertaking, and therefore the reason we ask for your support. Will you help?
Thank You. May God bless you and your family.
